Thanks Brian for the heads up.

If there is anyone planning on attending BC Championship and would like to sharing the commute and accommodation to Nanaimo PM me. Trying to plan out my shooting schedule this year however I'm uncertain if I'll attend the Provincial this year due to the extra costs of traveling for other competitions.

If I were shoot the provincials this year which I may, my answer would be ...no thanks, there has never been a good enough turn out on the island to make it interesting.
Now that that is settled do we get an option 2 :)

maybe do a poll to see who would go to the island, that is an extra 350 bucks with ferry
and higher hotel is it not?

just asking for me and a friend, there are 5 of us in Alberta probably not going cause
it is now on the island

just trying to be honest and helpful for a head count

Hmmmm. Sad to see we cant shoot Volks any more. I was hoping for Kamloops as it's a lot closer. Kind of up in the air on Nanaimo I have shot there before and the 2 creeks running through it make for some interesting wind. It is a nice range but...and I think it's a short 600y more like 580y we never shot that mound much it's a 1/2 mound not much room. All the other mounds are nice, fairly sandy. The club house is nice, it's on the range at about the 550y line. Just off to the side.

This likely isn't great news for most of the province (or for the Albertans), but there are some pretty avid shooters here on the island (Campbell River thru Victoria) that would appreciate not having to fork out that same $350 for the ferry.

Agreed that it's a shame about the loss of 300-odd yards of distance for the event, tho.

That’s a tough one, I have grown pretty accustomed to driving out to Vokes each year, but did my share of shooting on Van Island back to the days of Heals Range. I get that it’s a sacrifice the folks from the Island have to make all the time too. Nanaimo is a nice range and nice city, but travelling by boat on a long weekend in the summer adds a level to ones plans.

PEI, population 150k, and they get the stinking big bridge. ( Just kidding guys )
