2021 Whitetail last day buck

There ya' go, sticktuitiveness matters...

I was unlucky this year in that I shot four WT bucks all within the first hour of each respective season... I hunted for only three hours for deer... I always prefer to score on the last day rather than the first day... I love spending time in the woods and prefer the pursuit to the harvest... I enjoy the meat, but there is always a little let down when the hunt is over.
I envy your success, I have been saying for years the going is better than the getting, but even after a successful hunt, I still go out with my son and a camera. Spot and stalk even without a kill is still a great day in the woods, I have no doubt you know what I am talking about. You have obviously arrived at a point in time where your skills speak for themselves. Congratulations on a successful season.

I suppose I should clarify... I definitely stayed out in the woods after harvesting those deer, for many days in fact. In my hunting area "party hunting" is allowed, but my partners wanted to shoot their own deer this year which was fine with me, so I spent the days scouting and setting stands for my partners... and in each season we tagged out with one exception, but he quit hunting and stayed in camp due to bad weather (soft hunter). However, being in the woods, just to be in the woods lacks the heightened sensory intensity that you have when pursuing an animal with the intention of harvesting it... at least for me. I still do it, but prefer to be on a "hunt." I did photography for many years and enjoyed that immensely, but work schedule and life conspired to make me choose my vices... photography and golf were the casualties.

This ^ is so very true, but rarely verbalized or explained.

To paraphrase somebody-or-other...it is better to have a gun and not need it, than to not have a gun and not need it...:)
