The December 10 GRINCHMAS Match was the last match of the 2022 season for the Square Circle Wranglers at the Eastern Ontario Shooting Club, dedicated Cowboy Action Shooting facility, 4570 Drouin Road, Cheney.
It was a huge success with 27 registered shooters, who enjoyed the friendly competition, hot coffee, beans, buns, and deserts, thanks to the ladies in the clubhouse.
The wood stove with it's TURBO FAN made it nice and toasty!!

That was our last one for 2022 but we'll be back early in 2023, so start loading your ammo for the next season, so you won't be stuck inside in good weather when you could be at the range.

Pictures taken at the match and all the others are now posted on our website: www.squarecirclewranglers.ca

Regarding the Old West Buffalo Shoot:

Single shot rifles, of the type used in the Buffalo Hunter era, with iron sights, shot at steel targets, placed at 100 and 200 yards.
.45-70 and .38-55 calibres being the most common used by competitors.
Black Powder or Smokeless, lead bullets only, NO Jacketed, for the entire match, all stages.
In previous years, Main Match SASS rifles were used for a 100 yard "side match", held in addition to the single shot Buffalo Rifle stages.
Shots were fired from prone, kneeling, sitting and standing although what this years requirements will be is unknown at this time.

More details, round count etc. will be available from the organizers of the match and as soon as they are known and made available to me, I'll try to post them here.
It's a lot of fun and a great day.
Hope to see you there.

And remember to mark July 23 as The Day of The Cowboy and dress western.
OK, OK, I know Justin says we have no Canadian Identity but we Albertans know better, even those of us who live in the East!

This looks like a fun shoot. Do you need to be a member of a Cowboy club or SASS to participate ? I'm a member of a couple clubs but unfortunately dont have a Cowboy Action league in either clubs. I'm guessing closest to me might be Barrie ?

Cowboy Action Shooters are about the friendliest most inclusive bunch you can hope for or imagine, so NO, you don't have to be a member of an existing posse or of the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) to participate. We do follow the SASS rules.

Have a look at the SASS website under Canadian clubs to make sure, but I think Barrie is closest to you.
Their and other posse contact information is listed on the Single Action Shooting Society website.
Barrie's contact is Northern Crow at crowladysmith@bell.net for the BAR-E Ranch.
They are a great bunch of cowboys and cowgirls.
Welcome to the fun!!
If you're around our neck of the woods on a match day, come-on in and join us!

A personal note here.
I want to thank all the wonderful posse members who sent flowers and attended the Memorial Service for my beloved wife and for those who sent Ian and I cards of sympathy.
Your support, kind thoughts and prayers have made this sad time a little easier to get through.
Thank-you.
