2024 Waterfowl Season Thread...Here We Go!!

My grandsons had a great time last weekend. Sights and sounds of thousands of snow geese were quite exciting. Snow geese were raining down!

Was lucky enough to be able to get out again between work rotations and with being covered up in birds even though most waters are frozen solid!
Had a great afternoon solo hunt using my pride and joy prized possession Ithaca NID4E.
What a fantastic afternoon scratching out a limit of greenheads with my old Ithaca and a 10 rd box of #6 Bismuth.
And yes that one is a drake. Must have been a very late hatched bird to still have his mostly juvenile colours still.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.I'm guessing if you guys are froze up the northern birds should be hitting our shores soon. The locals here are getting too smart .:)
One would think but they are hanging tough. Its a sight to see them standing around on frozen sloughs and lakes not going anywhere! This weekend saw lots of them start taking to the North SK River for water and resting.

We don't get the snows in our area in the spring. Even in the fall, they are only around for for a few days. They tend to hold closer to the coast, They are open in the spring but that ended on the `10th the same as Canadas. I only got into them once, when a neighbour asked me to get them out of his cover crop. They were mostly cackler canadas, so the snows were more collateral damage.IMG_0511.jpg
