204 and Reloader 10X?

The latest Sierra manual lists it, and the results are quite impressive.

I tried it, and don't like it.

it's a dirty burning powder. It's double based, so it burns hot and is very temperature sensitive, which is a particularly bad thing with sub-caliber cartridges like this and the 17 rem. In my rifle, it only produces reasonable accuracy with very light loads. Varget and H4895 work much better.

I was in the same boat too trying to finding 10X for the 204 too. But I lucked out and another member on this site had a pound he didnt need so I bought it off of him! I bought it over a year ago and havent even got to load any rounds with it. :(

I have 2 or 3 pounds of the 10X. No it isn`t the most readily available powder. I bought it for the 223 and 22-250 initially, but thought it might work in the 204. I did load up 20 rounds today to try. Took a look at the loads and decided on a load so I loaded 10 with 25.0gr and ten with 25.2gr to try out with the 35gr Berger Match Varmints. I`ll let you know how it goes once I get a chance to shoot them.
My powder of choice is Benchmark at 26.4grs with the Berger 35gr
I have also tried Varget and BL-C(2) as well as H335 and IMR 4064.

Thanks for the input ;)

local gun store cant even get it, none of their suppliers carry it, although RL7, RL15, 19, 22, 25 etc is
Rayn'er Shine Gunworks imports his own supplies . If the ferry is working or the ice road is in he's our local dealer otherwise it's a drive to Saskatoon and WSS.

I use 25.0 RL 10X With a 40 grain Berger. It's one of the best loads I have found for the .204, produces consistant moa or better results at 100-200 yards. Works quite well in both .204 rifles I load for, a Rem 700 VLS, and A NEF single shot bull barrel.
