Does anyone else have velocity data for their .204 Rugers? I am finding my reloads with 35gr. Bergers are running well behind (300+ fps slower) the published load data/veolocities. My 40gr. Berger loads are pretty close to book, so I just want to see if anyone else is getting similar results? My gun is a Rem 700 LVSF and I am only getting 3,500 fps with max. loads behind the 35gr. Bergers. I've tried 4 different powders, and results are consistently slow.

How about anyone running any factory .204 ammo over a chronograph?

What kind of powder are you using?is the barrel length of your rifle the same as the published load test rifle etc. There are a lot of variables to consider.I have a 204 in a Remington VLS (26" bbl.)and my loads usually run close to the reloading books (especially Hodgdons annual manual).Ran some factory Hornadys (32 gr. vmax's) over my chrony and got about 100 to 150 fps lower than there claimed 4225 fps.I know they say it's hard for the home reloader to equal the factory velocities.Another question is how far from your muzzle are you setting up your chrony (i set mine approx. 15').

i shoot a savage 12FV, i get just over 4000 with the bergers. i am using H322 powder near max. BLC-2, 4895, 4198, 4064, benchmark all gave velocities around 3700.

I chronographed

a buddies 204 Ruger with a 24" Pacnor barrel, 35gr Bergers and a given amount of BLC-2 and it was humming at an averaged 3995 fps. It could possibly go higher but the accuracy with that load it was not worth trying to push it faster.

When I first got my 204 a fella at the public range had a chronoy that he let me fire a round through.

The Hornady factory 32 grain bullet is supposed to be 4225 fps but that single round was 4095 fps. It was fairly cold that day just a bit below freezing if i remember right, altitude is 3500-4000' (i am guessing, others may know what Homestead Range altitude is) Barrel length is 26"

Haven't chronographed any of my reloads, as accuracy dropped off well before i approached max loads so i never bothered. Someday will afford a chronograph hopefully

I'm just starting reloading for my 204. I've got a Rem sps. And was wondering if you have mins and maxs for the bergers with different powders? Thanks. And I don't have a crony or I would put in my 2 cents for velocity.

Thanks.
