I love 204 it’s quiet min recoil pretty flat .. do you guys in Canada see 204 much … if I was aloud think it’s all I would need nothing as big as you animal wise over here ..

A few of us in southern Ontario use the 204 for coyotes. Had a Rem700 but traded it up to a Tikka heavy barrel varmint. Much more accurate. Another buddy has a Volquartsen in 204, he pulls off some spectacular running shots. Still have a 17 Remington but the dogs run a distance even with a good hit. The 34 and 40g 20 cal bullets are accurate and do a good job. Crows break apart into 2 pieces. Good luck with the thermal, it’s an experience !! lol

I’m a huge 204R fan, recently rebarrelled to a 1:9 twist cuz the original got shot out. I have a job where I shoot the corvid birds to protect duck nests in the spring. In particular the ravens. Shots stretch out between 200-300 yds regularly. 150 yd ravens are a slam dunk. My fav bullet with the factory barrel was the 39gr Sierra BlitzKing. Now it’s the 40gr Berger. I’ve used it on coyotes but I’ve had a few runners if not hit properly. Deadly on foxes if you’re not concerned about fur. If you are then let them get past 200 yds.

My original barrel was a heavy barrel T3. It wouldn’t stabilize the 40gr Vmax. But loved the 32 gr Vmax, at over 4K fps. And now my new barrel refuses to shoot the 40 Vmax, go figger
