My father recently gave me this shotgun. It was actually the very first gun I ever fired, ah memories.

I have started to poke around to learn more about it and it's origins, and while I do that I thought I would share it here.

I had it out shooting skeet this last weekend, handles very nicely. Everything feels very tight, although I got lucky just noticing a couple screws loosening off and the forward sling mount was 2 turns away from falling out (I was shooting without the sling on).

Here's what I know;
.20g SXS
Manufacturer: Armas Eibar
Model: BOST (it's stamped on the right barrel as Armas "BOST" Eibar)
Anyone else here have one of these?

Hard to see here, but these are actually small carved dragon like images, pretty sweet.

I have one. Elgoibar is the brand , made in spain. Nice little 20 sxs. I will never let that jewel of out my hunting arsenal!

I have the same gun in 16ga. Started doubling a few years back, got it fixed but I don't trust it enough for high volume shooting. Great gun for grouse though, wonderful to shoulder. Will never get rid of it,

Looks like it was made in the 1930's to 1950 period, nice box lock Spanish double! You woud spend a handful of hundreds to get that quaility nowadays. Alot of guys don't value the Spanish boxlocks very highly, yet I have never had one malfunction on me in the last 10 years that I have been shooting these older guns, enjoy and get you some partridge! Dale in T-Bay!!

What type of trigger configuration does the gun have? I like Spanish sxs and have have owned a couple but they do not enjoy the best reputation for single, selectable triggers. But then the last time I checked Purdey didn't offer a single selectable in its sxs either.

Double triggers like the one picture above are the only configuration I'd consider.

Here's a link I've posted a few times before when Spanish guns are mentioned. It deciphers the proof marks, date stamps and maker's marks.

That's a very informative link, thanks.
I noticed some marking below the barrels at the hinge, will see if they match any on those lists.
I have read that sometimes the initials of the person the gun was made for will be on there too, that would be interesting.

Imagine the quest to track down the family of the original owner! Problem with that would be, they might want to buy it back.
