Hi, the 20 is all I hunt with now around home. I live in a shotgun only zone, I used a 12 for years but got tired of packing that mortar tube around. The 20 has MORE than enough killing power. I have 2 Remington 870's, one scoped with fully rifled barrel and the other with open sights, improved cylinder.
If you get one make sure its a 20 action not a 12. This greatly cuts down the weight of the gun and improves handling. It feels more like a rifle than a shotgun then.
For my fully rifled, I use only Federal Premium Barnes Expanders (up to 200 yards). These open wound channels like you wouldn't believe. For the Improved cylinder I use the cheap Federal fostered slugs, they shoot the cleanest, (up to 75 yards). If you are scoping a shotgun, may I suggest a mildot scope. When you have all your ranges figured out per dot, you can make some very long shots accurately.
I put one clean through a good sized buck last year at 167 yards. He fall down dead.
