Much appreciate if someone could confirm my assumption that the 6-48 Bradley ivory front bead will fit?

Moreover, will there be a need to file down the shank height or is that simply a matter of straight drop-in (I mean thread)?

It will if the existing thread is 6 x 48.

If the existing thread is smaller, then drilling and tapping would be required.

If the existing thread is larger then no. 6 x 48 will not work.

So remove your existing sight and find out what size it is.

An update and FYI only - the Bradley sight (MARBLE ARMS 6-48 BRADLEY SIGHT 064812) was/is the correct part for my Rem 870. It was straight thread in - no mod was necessary.
