20ga SXS suggestions

I've had the luck to own a few sxs's
all were nice/ the best were 2 brownings sxs's
1 in 20 gauge the other in 12 gauge.
Best i've ever owned.
I like the pistol gripped stocks
they fit me like a fine glove
old timer 76

Some Spanish SxS guns are quite nice and reliable. An Ugartechea or AyA in 20ga with a straight grip and double triggers is a nice bird gun if it fits you.
AYA have a solid reputation and box lock examples can be had cheap in the UK if you are interested in importing. Here are a few at <500 GBP on https://www.guntrader.uk/Guns-For-Sale/results/fe74-7e02-50bf-0b25 which, if you double that would get you close to CAD delivered. You can play with the search to add other makes/price ranges etc.

Thinking out loud: Wonder is over time the Turkish guns will be the new Spanish guns?
- As Spanish guns have had drastic increase in price in recent years.

As long as the pricing on B guns keeps on spiralling, there will be room for Spanish, Turkish, Brazilian, and Russian, etc., in the market. A basic Silver Pigeon with non-descript lumber is now about 3K!

I wouldnt buy any 1000$ SXS let alone a sub gauge. Even used there isn't much

I would suggest you learn a little more about what makes a good SxS. There are plenty used sxs to be had for under $1000. One just needs to know what to look for, both for original quality and current condition. Picked up a Ferlach made 16 gauge with 29" barrels last year in fantastic condition. And it's of a quality that no Turkish gun can match. Paid $700.

Would that be the same one your considering selling me at the DG classic 7? Haha now that’s funny. On a serious note there are deals to be had out there. Experience and knowledge are required if ones not experienced with what to look out for. I’ll be requiring lessons and advice. Definitely gonna be a sub gauge. Either 28 or maybe 20. 410 bore would be great but think they’re fairly rare.

Hahaha. Happy to share what I know. Should I put you down as an attendee?

Thanks a ton guys, lots to consider. Really appreciate it!

Good luck in your quest... keeping it within budget...

Because it sure is easy to get carried away.
- If I'm only going to get one, might just as well get a nice one.
- My $ would go further with a used gun. Next thing you know, you've g9ne from looking at a Turkish gun, to a Spanish gun to an Italian... to thinking that a nice British gun isn't that much more
- Some engraving would be nice
- Oh, look, a shiny thing!

Unless I’m not breathing or being held at gunpoint, I plan on being there. Sounds like a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to viewing many of the fine guns as well as learning lots!!

Thanks Mike! I've never put toys on credit cards, so that policy keeps me on the straight and narrow. Have at least one "never sell" shotgun that I may send down the road to make this happen sooner. We'll see.

I prefer double triggers straight English stock and 26" barrels on my sxs guns. However I have many in other configurations. I have a huglu 200b 20ga which is 26" barrels dual trigger straight stocked boxlock with upgraded wood and it's been great. I use it often. The wrist is alil thick for a subgauge but it fits my hand and doesn't look out of place. I just have 12ga guns with slimmer wrists. I have 4 huglu guns all which I enjoy shooting and for the price point I believe they're the best gun in their respective market bracket. Another point for extractors over ejectors is they are simpler and less to go wrong but an often over looked feature is there's less force needed to open the gun as your are not resetting the ejectors.
Huglus in my experience have better triggers than cz. The lines are very similar and since covid the cz price point as has seemed to increased substantially

If you can make it to the cgn sxs classic this June you're welcome to try mine for a couple rounds of skeet

Appreciate the offer immensely brybeen, thanks! And that^gun sounds lovely!!

I haven't read the whole thread, but the old Charle's Daly's out of Miroku, were so close to a Browning BSS, but always cheaper. Keep an eye out for one of those guys, great guns, for probably half the price of the Browning. Sold my 20g Daly for around $400 probably 10yrs ago now.

I picked up a Merkel 20 gauge straight stock, double triggers, ejectors in very nice condition for a song as far as I'm concerned. You just have to watch and be prepared to act, not think about it for a week. That's where it helps to decide ahead of time what it is you are wanting in a SxS.

I typed that wrong. My 20ga is a 202b not a 200b. My mistake.
My 410 and 12ga are of model 200ac and 200ace. Been a long week with the basement flood and knee injury

haha-no worries

Sounds like a rough week, either of those would be a serious drag...let alone both.
