I am looking for a grouse gun. I think a 20ga SxS would be very cool!
Here is the question, what is a good entry level gun!
I would prefer double trigger, I think!
I'm not interested in paying more than say $700 to $800.
I'm looking for suggestions of what I should look for, brand, shape etc....

Thanks for your opinions!

Marc

Save your money and start looking when you get north of $1200. A 20ga double is a great grouse gun. An Ithaca SKB is good little gun in the $1200-$1500 range.

First of all, you should try shooting a side by side. A classic 'grouse gun' has a different feel than most traditional shotguns with pistol grip-style stocks.

Your choice in the price range is probably a Huglu or CZ gun, and you would have to find a bargain, at that. You might find a SKB 100 close to that price if you are lucky.
Good 20 gauge side by side shotguns are not that common in the used market and are snapped up quickly.
I would suggest that you avoid Brazilian guns and save yourself some trouble.
Spend more, buy better is a good adage with double guns.

You might find an skb 100 for that price but it has a single trigger and is very ell made. I had one but it fit me poorly so I got rid of it.

A CZ or Huglu can be found for around $1000 new, or around $700 to $800 used, when they become available.Prophet River usually has a decent selection of Huglu.
