.....

Hey 6MT sorry for the lil derail, but did you get the quick detach for your LRAs? If so you know where a person can find one? cheers

One of the advantages of an Arca/RRS rail under each of your rifles is they can share one good bipod (and maybe a spare).

Have you checked out the Thunder Beast Arms bipod?

If the ckye-pod is out (and I'm not sure why it is, it's hard to provide suggestions when the OP won't establish their needs and likes and dislikes in a bipod), then the TBAC bipod should be high on the list of the bipods to consider. Another one is the Elite Iron bipod.

6MT, why not establish what the mission of your bipod is, and features you like and dislike in a bipod, so people can provided targeted suggestions, rather then trying to throw sh*t at a wall and hoping it sticks.

Have you looked at Atlas bipods? They kind of similar to LRA's. I use the PRS one. I reread the first post, Heavier than the Atlas? I find the PRS one a little chunky, but I don't think the LRA was that much heavier. I tried the MDT ckypod it's ok I found it kind of wobbly for my liking, it does have a lot of features that make it interesting. I am told that the new gen. ones are not so wobbly, haven't tried one yet. Maybe Rubydave will come on I believe he runs one.

I had one of those Accutac-50s for a few minutes before I sold it (got it from a prize table down south) and it seemed like a solid unit. I just didn't really have a need for a bipod like that at the time as I didn't have a magnum "boomer" and other than load dev, I pretty much only shoot PRS-y kinda stuff and field shooting. If it's mostly for range use I imagine it would probably suit your purposes.

These days I pretty much exclusively use Ckyepods (I've still got a few Harris with spikes and RRS clamps but they're not what I grab when I want a versatile bipod) for my shooting. I have a Standard length one and a Triple-Pull (and plan on getting a Double-Pull as I think it will actually be the most versatile). The versatility you get with them in terms of how high and how low you can go with one bipod is pretty crazy and the ease with which you can adjust said heights on the fly is super helpful. I know lots of people don't like the "loose" feel of them (and the Gen 2 is supposed to rectify a lot of that) but the reality is that a bipod with the degree of adjustability that a Ckyepod has will always feel "looser" than a less adjustable bipod. The "looseness" doesn't effect accuracy in a meaningful way, in fact it goes away when loading the bipod. Moreso, it's especially irrelevant when shooting in the field. I've shot tiny little groups at the range doing load dev using a Ckyepod although I'll happily acknowledge that is not its main intended use. If you're shooting at a flat, level range exclusively then there are probably better options (F-class kinda bipods?) but for field shooting, nothing touches a Ckyepod.

I'm thinking that after a versatile PRS bipod the next one could be either one of the really tall ones or a tripod for seated/standing shooting, or perhaps an MPOD or benchrest unit for sighting in as accurately as possible or for that kind of competition. Having a backup bipod in case the main one breaks might be useful, but one that you'd actually reach for first in some shooting situations could be more useful.

Have you looked at the Atlas 5h? It's pretty stout but I don't like the way the cant lockout works.
I've played with another Accutac and was pretty pleased with it, can't comment on the HD50 though.
I hear you on the Ckyepod slop but its the most usable field bipod IMO.
Tier one FTR or carbon? The wide stance and cant adjustment is nice. Not sure if you've seen some of the FTR style bipods like the Mystic.

Really? Flimsy is definitely not something that comes to mind when I pick one up.

They aren't flimsy.

Some have a little slack in them, proper setup and preloading into the bipod negates any slop. The slack is actually a benefit in the field, and this bipod won't be the limiting factor in most situations.

If shot some of my smallest groups (under a tenth MOA) with a ckye-pod, off of concrete no-less.
