My CDX 33 showed up in similar condition when ordered from Cadex. Some of the screw heads had the black finish worn.

Mr.Max

Due to our worldwide military contracts, all Cadex's hardware must be stainless steel as snipers operate in sea environments and the salty air would make them rust. The draw back or using stainless screws is the fact that the back oxide treatments that is applied on them to cut the shinny reflection doesn't adhere well and will fade out over time. We could use steel screws and have them "Arcor" threated, they would be black and more resistant to rubbing, but would eventually rust. So it's kind of a catch 22 and there's no magic recipe here.

If you'd prefer to have steel screws, that you are willing to oil them once a while, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the factory and we'll send you some.

I hope that it answers your concerns too.

Thanks for your understanding.

I just here waiting patiently for Cadex to post their 2021 Catalogue

(Hoping for a hunting rifle with an adjustable comb and a heavier profile proof barrel)

Awesome response by Cadex.

Nice to see a company not afraid to protect its reputation, in no uncertain terms...

I saw the OP before it was deleted and found the claims difficult to fathom.

Agreed. Even if it's a used gun I don't see why it's so difficult to contact the manufacturer directly before posting on the forum.

Well, when 'shots are fired' at a company making high quality military grade firearms OP shouldn't be surprised when the 'return fire' is accurate and effective.

Whatever the claims were, I'm sure Cadex would have had him sorted out had he contacted them first. Cadex is always great to deal with. Fast response and always answers their phone. Took care of me on an issue I had with my rifle, no questions asked.

By the way Max, your screw discoloration triggered a new investigation on how to black a stainless steel screw. Yesterday we sent a small batch of screws to this different surface coating treatment process and we'll see next week how good it turns out. We have high hope that the screws will be more resistant to rubbing and that the black color will remain longer, while still maintaining a good level of rush resistance and remaining a stainless screw.

May I ask you to send me a reminder if you'd like to be contacted when the new screws arrive so that I could replace your original screws. Please send your complete name and address + name of the product at customerservice@cadexinc.com

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend.
