I have a dozen or so 215gr RNSP bullets come my way. Anyone have a load that I could run them around 2200fps out of a No4 rifle? (for punching light alder brush moose hunting this year) I am limited to IMR 4831 and H-4895 powder. Thanks in advance.

I've been running 30gr H4895 in my MkI Ross behind a 220GR round nose 308 bullet. In my MkII* I've been running 33Gr behind the same bullet.

I have some load data , I still have a stash of Norma 215's . I don't think I have any 4831 data , but I'll dig around and PM any info I have to you . If you can lay your hands on a can of Reloader 15 I have THE load for 215's .

Norma did a test to see if the bullet design or weight made any difference in being deflected by bushes, branches etc.
It turned out from the results of their tests, they were all deflected if they hit a branch.

Maybe, but every hunter in the country can't be wrong. Besides, a bit slower and harder hitting with a moose 50ft from you can't be a bad thing.
4895 40gr. Very accurate at about 2200fps.
4831 50 gr About 2350 fps.
A heavy bullet is still deflected by bush, but may not fragment. Don't try to shoot through bush. pick an opening.
I have tested this myself, using old Christmas trees. Did not try a 12 ga slug.

FWIW, I assume a 215 would be better than a 150, but missing the branches is best.
I once shot a moose at about that range. it was trotting along a trail towards me. I shot it in the chest. Should have shot him in the head. The bullet deflected and traveled the length, outside the rib cage.
