I bought a pre-owned TAR from Equipment Exchange and tested it a couple of weeks ago, 140 rounds in three types of magazines not a single hiccup. The rifle had fired at least 1000 plus rounds prior to the deal.

The trigger is very heavy and it is not for accuracy. X95 has a better trigger group.You won't regret getting one as long as you are fine with holding a bullpup.
 
The trigger is completely manageable with mediocre shooting skill. It's never been sold as a precision rifle. I have one with bow the lightning bow and super sabra and one without. I shoot both equally well for all intents and purposes.

It's not. I have tried half a dozen types of ammunition from 45 to 70 grains. Nothing prints bigger than 2.5" at 100m which is completely acceptable for a fighting gun. Most is around 1.5". Hardly a definitive test but yeah.

Before I found out the correlation between twist rate and preferred grains, I was just using standard Federal AE 55gr X193. Thought that was cheap and it was 5.56. What's interesting was when I tried some higher grain rounds - Hornady Frontier 68 and 75 gr 5.56 as well as Nosler Custom Competition 77 gr .223. Both gave me noticeably better results. I went back to the Federal AE 55gr and PMC XTAC 55gr and the groups were bigger. It could all be psychological in knowing I paid a significantly more for the Frontier and Noslers (I have seen this when I hit premium Titleist golf balls as opposed to bare bones Top Flites), but the X95 definitely likes the heavier bullets, at least for my gun. It's just too bad the higher grain rounds are so expensive!

We yeah all 1/7 inch twist barrels are designed for 62gr and higher projectiles… all my ARs with 1/7 twist rates prefer 69-75gr projectiles and this barrel is no different. 55gr projectiles were optimized for the 1/10 twist barrels of the original 60’s to 80’s M16/SP1/SP2 family of rifles with 20 inch barrels.

As has been said the x95 is a combat accurate rifle and 2-4 inch groups are perfectly acceptable and easily achieved with the stock x95 trigger pack and trigger bow… this is a massive improvement over the original TAR 21 civilian Tavors imported years ago which although are said to be more accurate in theory came with that AWFUL 14 lb mushy trigger pack.

For those of us looking to replace our now prohibited AR family of rifles the Geissele lightening bow and super sabra trigger pack combo and heavier projectiles brings us back down to the 1 MOA we were spoiled with for so many years of inexpensive AR-15s.

Learn to hand load, I can still hand load Hornady 75gr bthp all day long for under 50 cents a round which is way less than you are now paying for factory 55gr rubbish these days.
 
IDF uses 55 grain M193 spec as much or more than M855. I haven't had any issues with accuracy myself, it is more accurate than M855 but that stuff is hardly precision ammunition.

This is my experience as well. I have the occasional flier that might open a group up to 3" but I'm also using a 2MOA Holosun red dot. That I usually get 1.5-2.5" is pretty impressive in my books.
 
Just installed the Geissele Super Sabra Trigger pack. What a difference for dry firing. The initial take up is still there but it now has a very nice short, crisp reset and about a pound less pull weight. Im looking forward to getting out to the range to try some double taps with this tigger pack installed.

And I know it's still no AR trigger, but its a big upgrade!

nice im picking mine up tomorrow, cant wait to try it out. Not as dramatic of a difference as the original tavor from what I've read, but still nice.
 
Got the opportunity to handle and shoot one, while on the heavier side compared to my light weight AR build its still very nice! I love the compactness of it, just may have to pick one up one day

Without the upgrades the SAR not worth owning imo. The trigger is that bad. With the upgrade, it’s a wonderful maneuverable gun in tight spaces.

The x95 has a better trigger but I’d still wager the upgrades are worth it because geissele always make them better. Every single one of my ARs got geissele trigger upgrades.

The stock TAR21 has a match grade trigger compared to my Steyr AUG. Now there was a difficult trigger to master.

Just ordered mine, looking to get a pistol grip for it, anyone know where it might be in stock? Preferably in fde.
