Got a Savage Action on the way, looking to set it up in something .224 calibre. (Has to be .224 due to hunting regs, also I already have a .223Rem)
So Thinking going to a 22-250 or .22-250ai, but I'm not set on that for sure.

Curious as to how well the .22-250 and .22-250ai would feed from a mag, in particular an AI Style mag (MDT Mags to be specific). Kinda sounds like .22-250 should be fine in a .308 mag but I can't find anything definitive for the .22-250ai.

Anyone help me out with personal experience? or want to convince me to go to something other than .22-250/ai?

calvin;
Good morning to you sir, I trust this still, cool Friday finds you well.

Sorry to be the bearer of unhappy tidings, but the .223 and .22-250 use the same .224 diameter projectiles.

On the AI feeding question, we've got a .22-250AI that I put together on a 98 Mauser action which has given me fits trying to make it feed properly. The feed rails and follower needed extensive modification to feed at all and I WOULD NOT recommend doing anything that short/fat on a 98 action to anyone I even remotely liked. It does however shoot extremely well, so that sorta makes up for it.... sorta.

The .250AI built on a 722 Remington short action has no modifications whatsoever and feeds flawlessly.

I am cognizant that doesn't truly address your specific question, but perhaps it was useful for someone out there this morning.

Good luck with your rifle whichever way you decide.

That's what he said. He already has a .223 so he want's 22-250/ai (or something else in .224 dia) because it uses the same projectiles.

If you are a handloader I highly recommend the 22-243 over the 22-250 AI......It is a dream feeding from any rifle set up for the 308 family and exceeds the 22-250 AI by about 200 fps..........obviously if you are considering the AI, you must be a reloader and looking at buying dies anyway. 22-243 dies are standard stock at Huntingtons in California and the cases are an absolute breeze to make..........just run new or once fired 243 brass through the FL sizer and VOILA 22-243 ready to load and no fireforming step required.
You may wish to give this option some very serious thought, it is a better cartridge in all respects.
