22-250 A.i.

Hey all, I have been tossing around the idea of getting a Stevens 200 in 22-250 and get it set up in 22-250 A.I. How much would it cost to get done? Can anyone recomend a smith to do it for me? How many shots could you get out of a barrel before you burn it out?

Stewart Newby did my 700 in 22250 AI and still has the reamer. He is somewhere in BC and is an old English gunsmith who does quality work. Strikes me I got around 2500 rounds prior to the throat getting rough. This would very with powder speed and charge etc...

I have built a few 22-250 A.I.'s.

To correctly chamber a factory barrel it should be set back one turn to insure the headspace is correct. An A.I. headspace gauge is actually tighter than the standard chamber gauge.

I would charge $125 to do this.

Barrel life has too many variables to state a figure.
