22-250, Barrel Burner ?

It doesn't burn barrels any faster than any other .22 cf. The .220 Swift can, but that's because of the high velocities it gives.
Barrel life is dependent on numerous variables. The quality of the barrel and bullet velocity among them.

If you take care of the gun and don't push your loads to the max it will out last you. But that's to be said of almost anything, except women. Who would want to outlive them anyway?

Quite the nebulous replies so far.
I've shot out 3, 22-250 barrels on a Sako action.
The factory barrel, Sako, was good for 8000 rounds. Next, I put on a R. Smith barrel. It was good for 5500 rounds. Another Smith barrel has given me 6000 rounds and still going like the Eveready bunny, but not fo much longer.
Now for the disclaimer.
I do not load hot loads. Velocity is in the 3100 fps range. Load hotter, shorter barrel life. The converse also applies. It's up to yourself.
Cheers
