I have been shooting some loads with 34.5-35gr of Benchmark and 50gr v-max's and have been getting some excessive pressures. Some are very hard to open the bolt and even blow the primer out of the odd one. I have also tried 35.9gr of H4320 and have had a little better success. I would like to keep the velocity up to about that 3800-3900 fps range. I was wondering if I could get some input on what others are using and what their velocities are if known. Thanks in advance. :runaway:

rem 700 sps 26" bbl
1-14 twist
cci-lrp
frontier brass
hdy 50 gr v-max
33gr imr 4060
speed unknown but shoots sub 1/2" @ 100yds

Savage 12FV
24" barrel
1:12 twist
PRVI brass
50gr V-Max
CCI 200 primer
37.5gr IMR4064

No pressure signs, but the accuracy node is down around 36.5gr for this rifle. Hodgdon lists the velocity as 3866fps with 37.0gr of IMR4064.

you could consider the stand by power h380. if you can find an accurarcy node near max you should get good velocity.mine will shoot 50 v max and 52 hpbt on top of 39.5 gr both equally well . with a slightly higher poi for the v max less than 3/4" .the 52 gr over a friends chrony were running just over 3700 ft/sec.

"...very hard to open the bolt and even blow the primer out..." Have the headspace checked. Hard opening and blown primers are symptoms of bad headspace too. Your loads are under max, so unless your scale is off, look at the headspace. Pull a few and weigh the charge first. Just to be sure.
"...H4320..." IMR4320, but 35.9 is under max too.
"...3900 fps..." Max Benchmark load.

I've been loading 50gr V-max with anywhere from 33.5 to 35.5gr of Varget. I was told from a friend & long time Gun guru that he has best luck with his 22-250's with H-380 & 52 or 55gr Sierra match kings I believe, I'm gonna try these very soon as I already have H-380.

I have Excellent results with my Encore 1-12" twist with 55grn Hornady fmjbt using the ol standby H380 as well as Varget, Imr4065, and of all things H4350. 52grn amax like the varget best. But the 55grn shoot excellent (I have had 6 shot groups I could cover with a dime) with h380 or Varget. The bonus to the 380 is it's ball powder so it meters well out of my powder thrower. YMMV
