I am about to start loading 22-250, planning to use 50-55gr. bullets. Looking at both Hornady and Hodgdon load data, IMR 4064 is right in the middle of the powder ranges listed and seems to produce velocities near the top end without crazy pressures. Is 4064 a good choice for the above? Any others that produce nice, consistent velocity and accuracy with the 50-55gr. bullets?

Thanks,
Mark

With my Stevens 200, I found H380 to produce fairly anemic velocities, even loaded up to 40.0 gr. I'm still experimenting with somewhat faster powders like IMR 4895. I think maybe the 22" barrel on the stevens is too short for slow powders like H380...

After a bunch of testing for hunting load;

-50gr vmax over imr 4895
-55gr vmax likes rl 15
-And to crank up the speed 40gr vmax over 10x
We have had mixed results with varget, one lot will work well the next is like starting fresh. I never used h380 seems a bit slow. PM me if you would like the grains used, or questions about the guns.

50 gr. Vmax and Varget work very well for me. H4895 and 55 HPBT Sierras, as well as 60 SP hornadys. H380 shot veyr well, but was slow for me ( especially in the cold).

There is another great powder out there as well. TAC by Ramshot has produced some xlnt results but it has always been hard to acquire. Seeing as you are just down the street practically, you may want to pop in to ProLine in Inglewood as they have a good supply of TAC on hand, and grab a single pounder to experiment with. All the data is on the ramshot website as well.
