22-250 to 250 Savage

Can the 22-250 be easily converted to 250 Savage by re-barreling....or are there other considerations ...ie: willl the 22-250 magazine be too short for the 250...will the 250 feed without "hanging up...
Comments please!
Anybody ever done this conversion...results?

In a Winchester M70 I had re barreled from 22-250 to 250-3000 the mag box, spring and follower had to be changed out as they were too short for the maximum OAL of the 250. The bolt stop was also changed. No work was required on the feed rails. A rifle from a different maker may not need as much work.

Another rifle I wish I had never sold ..................

if you are doing it on a savage rifle, you will need to change nothing but the tube. The savage mag is a generic mag for all the short action standard cals (ie, 22-250 and the 308 family) I just switched a 22-25 to a 358 win on a stevens action and needed only the barrel. I actually think the 358 feeds better, as i belive tha mag is for the 308 case dimensions
