22-250 Twist Rate

Ok guys I have a new 22-250 on order(Tikka T3 HB Varmit)
It comes with a 1:14 twist but I thought it was 1:12.

What I am asking is how heavy of a bullet can I shoot with a 1:14 twist???
I understand all rifles are different, But what is the generally rule?

I always consult a barrel makers web page... for instance Shilen: http://www.shilen.com/calibersAndTwists.html

.224 CF
- 7" for bullets heavier than 70gr.
- 8" for bullets heavier than 70gr.
- 8"* Ratchet rifled 4 groove
- 9" for bullets up to 70gr.
- 12: for bullets up to 63gr.
- 14" for bullets up to 55gr.
- 14"* Ratchet rifled 4 groove
- 15"* for bullets up to 55gr. driven 4,100 pfs or more
- 16:* for bullets up to 55gr. driven 4,300 fps or more

My Browning A-Bolt shoot heavies just fine, but lots don't.

I have a BDL 22-250 with 1-14 and it's max is 55grn bullet.
Tried 60 grain v-max and they all keyholed

It's not the wieght, per se, but the length of the bullet. some 55 gr. bullets are shorter than some 60,a nd even 70 gr. bullets. My 1-14" .22-250 shoots 60 gr. Hornady sp, and 64 gr. Win PP's, but not 55 Sierra blitzkings (polymer tipped ones).

1:14 will shoot 55gr soft points, but longer 55gr Ballistic tips may tumble, keep bullet length in mind.
