What kind of velocity do you get with your 22-250?
I have a savage model 12FVSS with a 26" heavy stainless barrel and i was quite sursrised when i fired it over a chrono. My 55gr sierra blitzkings were going 3844fps (37gr/varget) and my 40gr sierra hp went a blistering 4369fps
(40gr/varget). I use the lyman 48th edition manual. I suppose there isn't much need for a 220 swift with velocities like that :sniper:

TMG; I suspect those are plenty warm loads in your rifle. [if your chrongraph is telling you the truth.] Most 22-250's will make about 3650-3750 max with the 55 and just over 4000 with the 40, regardless of powder choice. Regards, Eagleye.

I've never played with a 26" barrel so I suppose its possible that your getting that high, I know of a guy that shoots 36's @ 4400fps. Mine is a 22 7/16 pipe that will push a 55gr to 3750fps maxed out. My pet load runs around 3650fps.

quickload sais that 37gr varget with a 55gr sierra blitzking over a 26" should be 3817fps, so pretty close to what you got. the pressure at 64991, so its a toasty load close to max, but nothing wild and scary.

40gr of varget with a 40gr sierra HP is 4229fps, so this one is estimating under what you got. pressure is 61500psi.
