I need to rebarrel my 22-250 and I am looking for thoughts on whether to stay 22-250 or AI it. The gun is a coyote gun will be using 52g bullets. I am looking to shoot out to 450 yard but for me anything after 350 it is all horse shoes ha ha. what kind of volicity would I get out of the AI looking for flatter shooting cartridge?

The AI gives about 100 fps more velocity. Not really worth the expense. What makes you think you need a new barrel?

I feel it needs a new pipe it use to shoot .6 inch at 100 yard the best now 1.5 and the gun was used and I have put over 3000 rounds through it and lots was hard days shooting gophers. I have thought of the Middlestedwhat kind of volicity could i get? I do have a 6BR ,25-06 and 300WM so I have some long range stuff.

I would consider the AI just to keep me from trimming all the time. I doubt it shoots that much flatter....its not a big difference in Case capacity.

If the barrel is not shot out it might shoot well by getting it chambered..it might just be the throat that's washed out.....set back barrel and rechamber to whatever you want and keep the barrel.

22-250 is a tough cartridge to load for. The case taper keeps brass moving forward and in my experience a new load had to be developed with every reloading. The 22 BR will give speed very close to 22-250 velocities without the tapered case issues. Look at what 1000 yard shooters are using for cartridges. An 8" twist barrel chambered in 223 will out-distance any standard twist 22-250. Long, heavy bullets shoot accurately much further than stubby short bullets. My next 1000 yd rifle will be 22 BR with a fast twist bbl.
