What would be my options for re-chambering a .22-250 to reach 900m. I have considered simply rebarelling to a 1:9 twist. I would prefer to use a fairly "standard" caliber ie .308/.243/6.5X55 and the like. It's a Rem700 LVS so I am not sure how/if the larger cartriges will fit. I am assuming it is a standard short action.

Thanks

243 but barrel life will not be so good.....or have a look at 6mm/22-250 that is a awesome round with a 1/8 twist barrel

it like the 308,260,243 will fit in your action and feed from the mag without issue

6XC is based on the 22-250. David Tubbs has done amazing things with this round. A bit simpler, a 1:8 twist 6BR would work nicely too, but 6.5X55 would be a good "standard" option if you want wide availability of components and factory ammo

The 6.5x55 won't work that well in the short action with the longer bullets, unless you use it as a single shot. the 6 XC and it's brethren are all wildcats, which may or may not matter to you. A 260 with a fast twist barrel would be a nice combo, and the 243 works well too (I use one, as well as 6mm Rem, 6mm Rem AI, and 308 on short actions for precision shooting). 6 BR is a very accurate round, semi-wildcat status, good shooters though. FWIW - dan
