Has anyone had a play with a 22-6mm,
I was thinking about getting a fast twist 22-250, but as I have a bunch of 6mm rem brass, and a spare M700 long action, am having sum thoughts, about the 22-6mm, what can I expect for barrel life, ?
what twist 1-8 ok for the 80gr or should I do 1-7
It will be built as a light weight hunting rifle, used on feral goats and smaller deer, have got onto a hunting block that is infested with goats and pigs, and has a few fallow deer, its very steep, and most shooting will be long range,300-500m, across gulley's, hence wind is a problem. thus the reason we are looking at high bc bullets.
I have been using my 2506, and my .243, but the .243 isn't really accurate, and the recoil and noise and cost, on the 2506, is excessive to cull a 100 plus game in a day.
has anyone used the 75-80 gr amax on game animals up to 120lbs on the hoof,
I am in New Zealand right now, due to the oil patch slowdown, so I don't want to hear anything about you opinion's on a .22 cal for deer, it will be a wasted effort, as I used a .222 for deer/goat culling for several years, and are well, a wear, of the benefit's and limitations.
