I recently bought a used CZ 452 American in 22 long rifle. The original owner bedded the action and installed a trigger kit.

I was shooting it today at 50 yards. I tried Remington Yellow Jackets, Subsonics, CCI Stingers and Winchester 37 gr. Hollow points. A slight victory went to the Yellow Jackets, then the Subsonics and then the Stingers. The Winchesters scored last, but not by much. For all that I've been hearing about these CZ's, I was kind of hoping my groups would have been just a little better. My groups ranged from .9" up to 1.3"

I was looking for any advice about other brands of ammo that I might try. I want to stick with hunting ammo for this gun and stay away from solids if possible but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

My CZ doesn't work well with any of the brands you mentioned. Some ones to try would be Federal american eagle, and Federal champion. I have found them to be very accurate in my CZ.

If you can find them, Winchester powerpoints are exceptionally accurate in every CZ I have seen. They have a very deep hollow point and my CZ will shoot 1/2" preatty easilly with them at 50 yards (with many around .3-.4")

Give any of the CCI line of rimfire ammo a try, The cheap Blazer works very well in all my rimfires as does the Standard velocity.

Stay away from anything Remington IMHO, Federal works for some people.

Key is to try a box of everything until you find what your rifle likes.

Sub 0.5" groups with Winchester PowerPoints, although I haven't tried them since CCI is supposedly making them now until Winchester can get some QA issues sorted out since they moved to a new plant.

CCI Mini Mags are a nice round and American Eagles usually work well in most guns.

X2.

Mine likes all the cheap stuff. That's good, because that's all I feed my .22's. No rifle I ever treied ever liked Yellow Jackets. If those are the best shooters you've tried, your still in for a treat.

i'm suprised that no one has mentioned Eley.
i use Eley match EPS and my 452 loves them. if i do my part it will hang in to 1 MOA well past 200yrds.
these are a little more expensive. exspecially in the gopher fields. but i find that with the accuracy i shoot half as much with just as many critters getting tipped over.

I use Eley Target in my 452 and they shoot great. But, I only use them for competition due to cost. Winchester Target 22 work well as practice stuff.

"...looking for any advice about other brands..." Try as many brands as you can. .22's are just like that. No two will shoot the same ammo the same way. Even two identical rifles with consecutive S/N's. The cost of said ammo means nothing either.
Move out to 100 yards if you can though. 50 is kind of close unless you have no intention of ever taking a shot past there.
Mind you, .9" even at 50 yards isn't to be ashamed of.
When the hypervelocity ammo first came out(Stingers, Expeditors and Yellow Jackets), a bunch of guys I know tried them on a standard steel pot military helmet. I forget how far out. The Stingers and Expeditors, penetrated one side and stopped. The Yellow Jackets zipped right through both sides. They drop ground hogs like a ton of bricks.

I have never had cci-minimags let me down, mixed results from remy, winchester has been nothing but crap, and Federal low end stuff has been good for plinking.

But that depends on ussage, in the end what do you want to do with it.

On a lark I bought some elly 10x once you can see the difference that 20$ for 50 get you.

With rimfire the old addage is very true "feed it what it likes"

Naturally it depends on the rifle, and I've never owned a CZ452 but...
I've had excellent results with Lapua Super club ammo with other rimfires.
This ammunition in my firearms has shot far better than the other brands.

I've tried the Elley. They were good, however my rifle seemed to still prefer the Lapua.
