.22 barrel length?

For the rifle to remain non-restricted its OAL has to be over 26", and the barrel has to be over 106mm (~4.2"). You can change the barrel for a shorter one, but you'll have to call the CFC to inform them of the shorter barrel, if its under 18".

Yes, no cutting. If the firearm has a folding or collapsible stock, OAL has to be measured with the stock folded or collapsed at its shortest length.

converted m.m. to inches and guess what the 26 inch length comes up a quarter inch short of the metric measurement. maybe my math is faulty but to my way of thinking this could be a problem .someone else set me straight if i am wrong.redid the math26 inches is660.4m.m. 660 m.m. is 25.98 inches

I am asking this cause I've got a 10/22 20" bull barrel and want to cut it down and thread it in to the receiver but since it should only be good for another half inch after threading I guess I won't. Unless, do flash hiders count in the 18" or overall?

If its welded on it does.

Didn't work for the M-1 Carabines. Those with barrels too short are still restricted, even after several owners' attempts to weld muzzle brakes (to make them 18") after the 1995 shaft we received from the Liberals.

Besides, I'm not so sure I'd want to weld anything to/on a barrel... it's the best way to lose metal tempering and render the barrel very weak & possibly dangerous. Whatever you do, do not weld it!
