.22 BB in Canada?

It would appear that Shooters Choice in Waterloo ON carries them but they are out of stock right now. Not sure if they are a site sponsor so I won't post the link but might be worth a phone call to them.

I remember seeing these in Canadian Tire when I was a kid, but I've never understood what they are used for. Can anyone elaborate?

Used in a BB gun , now that would be interesting. NO, not going to work, plus most BB guns are 177 cal.
They use a round ball, , just primer pressure , I believe ,why it is called a BB cap I suppose.
I have bought them few years back, European, for a couple old Flaubert's, They are still available, last I checked. 2 yrs ago.
I have bought CB caps by CCI at Ca. Tire.
They would cycle a rapid fire pistol I shot. Also very quite, they will not turn on timers at the range.
The BB would not run in that pistol, but in a small bolt action single shot rifle they are very quite. Good in a garden

The little round ball BB Caps likely would not feed reliably through any magazine. They are just too short and the round ball is just pressed into the case mouth. Handling will dislodge them. I used them a lot in my unlocked breech Flobert rifle until thy became hard to find.

Your best bet now is to source CCI CB Short (a long version is made as well). Any gun that will feed a short will cycle these.
The darn things have a rainbow trajectory, you can watch the bullet crawling down range, and I haven't found reliable accuracy in any rifle I put them through.

You won't find them everywhere but surprisingly I have seen them in Canadian Tire stores both in Ontario and in NB as well.

CCI makes them . if you keep looking you will find some . 710 FPS . they are still dangerous . be aware of your back stop . mark my words . they will cycle in your lever action . tube feed mag . I always used them in a single shot . I have seen them in some Canadian tire stores . call around .

My Dad used them in a thumb fired single shot rifle to get red squirrels and bush rabbits - 1930's - in what many people call Northern Saskatchewan (they were between town of Big River and the Prince Albert National Park). He was quite sure they would not reach a squirrel up top in the very tall spruce trees. The reason was cost - far, far cheaper to buy, then, compared to any other .22 ammo. I have never found any to buy - had read that the "long" version was to allow those to feed through a magazine rifle - still had no powder - same "strength" as the short ones, but I never had any, to know that for sure.

I believe they same as 6mm flobert as that 6mm dimension is the case and it’s a .22 bb bullet. Correct me if im wrong.

the 6mm is smaller . I have a tin somewhere . the CB caps are 29 grain bullets at 710 fps. had both . you can buy CB longs also . sail sells them sometimes .

It's amazing to listen to the comments on .22 BBs! It takes me back to my youth. Back then, they were an oddity - cheaper than dirt, off the S-L-LR treadmill, and you could actually see them when they were fired. At 20 metres or less, they were dropping like a rock! The CIL casings were distinctive, more copper-coloured in appearance than brass.

I knew I had seen some at my Local CT, I stopped by today when I went to gather some other things, Sure enough behind the counter I seen two plastic tins on sale, Told him I would take both, got home and to my surprise it was 9mm flobert CB caps! Looks like I need to source a gun now.

I use 5.6mm (.22) cb caps for squirrel control with my single shot rifle. Sellier & Bellot. I did have a can of the round nose bb cap, but they didn't eject consistently, so made the switch.

available at the local gun store...

That's the smaller ones . so not to sound like a fool but they produce a rifle for those rounds ? I was a bit of a knuckle head growing up I guess . if I remember correctly I think I used to shoot the odd one of those out of a single shot Cooey 22 . hence the reason I still have part of a tin 45 years later . they didn't impress me .

These ones I believe are for use in 9mm flobert shotguns Iam guessing, I haven't seen a gun with rifling in this chambering yet

Daisy did make a 22 with electronic ignition but it was not around very long . I have a article about the gun around here somewhere . It did not function well but it was available years ago. Shot a ton of BB caps as a kid 25 cents a box that was all i could afford. They worked well on rats at the town dump at night . You would go to jail for that now days.
