has anyone ever built one of these for shooting up to 600 M I know I have a few 1-14 twist they shoot great out to 300-400 yds if I watch the wind but I can't shoot the heavier bullets .

1:8 would be a good twist for bullets up to 80 grains. Those heavier bullets can easily be driven past 3000. This should make it an accurate 600M gun, but wind will still blow the 22 bullets around more than its 6mm parents.

The issue with deciding on a 22 like this is deciding on the bullet ranges you will be using before you chamber because freebore once cut, cannot be changed without major surgery.

Obtunded I also would like to build a 6mm br 1-8 I don't have a reamer yet but I have one for a 22 br and I have a throater that I will have to use to get the required depth for the longer bullets I also have to send in a few reamers for resharpen so I might get a 6br then for now I would like to play with the 22br and see how it works.

I have also been thinking of going this rout, right now I have a 22-250 with a 1-14 twist and find it a little finicky to load for. It only seems to like HPBT 52 grain bullets for some reason and anything heavier looks like a shot gun blast. I have played a little with 40 grain as well but the results were not that impressive. How are you guys finding the 22br for reloading? I use mine for coyote hunting and shots are under 400 yards allways so I was thinking a 1-8 or 1-10 twist and try 55 or 60 grain Vmax's. If I try the 1-8 the 75 Amax also might be an option just in case I want to strech them out on paper. I just had a 6mmbr put together and was hoping the 22br was as easy to tune and fun to shoot.

Brad the 22 br is very easy to load for and the brass lasts a long time and so does the barrel I have 2 one I shoot 53gr sierra and 30.5 gr h322 the other I shoot 55gr sp and 33gr varget they both shoot excellent groups the better is with the sierra's the other I hunt with I also shot some 60gr sp and they work fine both the barrels are 1-14 .
I almost built another one last week but once I had the barrel chucked in the lathe it ended up a 220 swift so it can be magazine fed the br's are used as single shot although I have one built on a parker hale action that feeds but only 2 rounds and sometimes it jams.
the 22 br is cheap to load fun to shoot and extremly accurate some of the groups in the .100 is not uncomon in my tikka m55 .

I mad a 22-250 with a 1 in 8 twist and it didn't perform as well as I had hoped. I had trouble getting deviation down to much under 18 fps. I had originally intended to make a 22 BR and might set that barrel back and give it a try.
My theme for this year is "All 308, all the time" so I probably won't get at it until next year.
The 22 BR should be able to achieve around 3200+ with the 80 grain bullets and might work out well. Regards, Bill

I tried a gun a few years ago that had been rechambered to a 22 br it was a rem 788 with a light varmint contour the guy that had it had a hard time making up brass it was a 1-8 twist so I formed some up for him and gave the rifle a try with some sierra's [79gr?] and at 300m it shot about 3/4" working up a load I was impressed and it was windy enough .
I've been wanting to give one a try for a while now even a fellow wildcater I know suggested I should build one seing I already had the reamer.
Bill a 308 is hard to beat I need to get a 30cal barrel and the 308 reamer as soon as I can swing it I've been wanting one for a while.
to many projects not enough time or $$$$ .
