Looking to get a .22cal kit for my AR.
1) who carries them?
2) Pro's & Con's?
3) Cost?
Any one who has one let me know if you like it or not.

Both Questar and Arms East have them. I've never used them myself but I'm sure others on here can tell you all you want to know.

I bought the CMMG conversion kit from Arms East and I love it. The kit I grabbed came with everything including a bolt hold open adapter. The mag is good quality and only had feed issues when putting all 25 rounds in it. It's hard to beat the feeling of pulling that trigger 20+ times without having to reload :D. The kit I have is stainless, so cleaning is really easy. I recommend picking one up!

I have a CMMG conversion from Questar that was bought last year. I have put thousands of rounds through it with no issues. I am using BDM mags and the CMMG one supplied with the kit. It runs about 99.5% with Dynapoint GT ammo and isn't super fussy, easily going 750 rounds between cleanings with no issues. Accuracy is so-so, with ~4" groups at 50yds, which is a function of the undersized bullet and super fast twist rate for .22LR. It is more than adequate for my uses and I wasn't expecting a long-range tack driver.

I have found that some brands of ammo will lead the barrel pretty heavily, I think that is a consequence of the slightly undersized bullet more than anything. At least lead is easy to clean compared to nasty copper fouling...

Overall, it is the best $200 I have spent on an AR, allowing a huge amount of CQB practice for dirt cheap. I think I paid for the kit the first time I took it to the range.

They work well enough. I have a CMMG kit with the BDM mags. It's cheap to shoot 22LR, but the precission is TERRIBLE. I went to Canadian Tire and Walmart and bought every type of ammo they had to see which would perform best in my rifle. Out of the six (or maybe more, I can't remember exactly) different types I tried, none were great. The tightest I could get the groups was 2" at 25m. That was in both a 1:7 twist 16" barrel and a 1:9 twist 20" barrel. What I'd really like to know is where to get a proper 1:16" 22LR barrel to build a dedicated upper from. I see Brownells has then, but they're $139, so that's not getting over the border...

Mine was the CMMG kit, parkerized. No problems. Some ammo worked better than others. I polished off some of the parkerizing and that smoothed things up and helped with cleaning. Mine was from Questar.

I have the cmmg kit, very highly reccomended since its great and cheap practice, also a lot of fun for introducing new shooters since its a cool looking gun in easy to shoot .22
