This rifle has a Parker Hale #16D rear sight. Marked M102, 1918 on barrel as well as 22'.610' 8Tons. Both barrel and receiver are marked U.S. Property and a serial number. I may buy it Price is $100.00....but...it has no magazine. Full length stock. Are mags available....is the PH sight worth much on its own? Although not marked Mossberg...it looks like a Mossberg bolt and plastic trigger guard and finger grooves. Thanks, Dave

Brownells sells a newly made magazine 861 100 042 designed for the older Mossbergs. This might be the correct one. Sounds as if the rifle was in the UK at one time from the proofs. That is probably where the PH sight was added. I'm not familiar with the PH16D, although I have a PH17, and it is a very nice sight. I am not familiar with the M102 designation. Perhaps the rifle is marked US Property for the same reason that Savage No. 4s are - the rifle was supplied under Lend Lease. Strikes me that if the rifle is in decent condition with a nice bore, the price is quite reasonable. These old Mossbergs are often great shooters.
