.22 cal recomendations for my kids

Great pic Moose Masher. Hope your son is enjoying the .22. Gonna try and get my 9 year old out to shoot my 10/22 soon (if the weather co-operates).

^^^^ Now that is some good advice. The picture is worth a thousand words as he looks just a little bigger than my 7 yr old.

I was going to buy the Henry today but I didn't know about the plastic sights. I would not like that. Thanks.

I going to search out a Savage and will post where I got it.

I bought a cadet today. I can't wait to get the boys up to the range with me again.

Glad I was of some help!
I hope you are as happy with it as I am.

My boy loves it, he is very proud and tells everyone he has his own .22!
As much as he likes it, I think me and my wife have even more fun shooting it, it's a hoot, and quite accurate. :):)

I looked into this years ago with my boys. Handled all sorts of "youth" models. The marlin 915Y (and YS) are the best I've encountered.

I bought a savage cub for my 7 year old. The 11.5 length of pull is still about 3 inches too long.

What I ended up doing was purchasing an old wood stock for a 10-22 cheap and cut it to length and let him shoot the 10-22

Get them a marlin, and they will learn at an early age, what not to buy. This would be of more value to them.

HEY! I got an 989, and love it! Granted, it is the only Marlin in my custody! Had a 30AS or something along those numbers & letters, in that mighty fine bush hunting cal 30-30, but found it to be big, heavy and clunky and not sweet looking compared to the mighty fine Winchester 94 line up! ;)
