Hello,

I am looking for a good target pistol in 22 caliber. I would like something that is well balanced, with adjustable sights, durable and that will eat all brands of amo. I am more interested in a precision pistol than a plinker. Following your experience, which of the following would be the best buy ?

Smith and Wesson Model 22 a with a 7 inches barrel.

Ruger Mark III Bull barrel MKIII 512 with a 5.5 barrel.

Browning Buckmark Standard with a 5.5 barrel.

Beretta U22 Neo

Any other options like a full frame Sig Moskito ?

If you are looking for something more accurate and dont mind spending the bucks look into getting the S&W model 41.Want something that will eat anything and can be very accurate go with the Ruger MKIII.
 
I bought my buckmark 2 years ago from S.I.R. It'll eat anything and is very well balanced. It shoots better then I can and has ergonomic 1911 style controls. Great gun all around and I'll never part with it. Rugers are good to but I found the grip angle uncomfortable and the mag release annoying. But that's just me. Best advice is to try before you buy if possible. For the same money you might also want to consider a used high standard.

Which Buckmark model do you own. Someone told me that some people had problems with the rear sights.

I would be interested in the Buckmark Splash URX or the Contour URX models, do you know anyone who have these models ?

Accuracy and stability wise is there a big difference between a 7.25 or 5.5 barrel :confused: ?

Right on ! Go for either one but get a 5.5" heavy barrel model 41..more accurate and designed for precision target shooting. Fussy on ammo though..in my experience.

I like mine despite the aluminum slide making the gun feel too light. Not a bad choice at all as it will give you practice on a trigger you shoot anyhow as opposed to a separate gun.

By the time I bought an extra couple of mags and the AA kit I had spent enough to buy a Ruger Mk III though.
 
If you want to shoot almost any ammo go with the Buckmark or Ruger, both have target and many other models to choose from. Best bet is to try and handle as many .22's as you can at a range, your club or local store. Go with the one that fits your grip best.

If you want more accurate try the S&W M41, however it's set up to fire Std Velocity .22 lr in most cases. Some owners fire HV rounds, but that's their particular choice.

I own a Buckmark Target 5.5 which will fire anything and a S&W M41 which only see's SV ammo. Both are very accurate, with a slight edge to the M41.

I now think it will be:

A Ruger 22/45 MARK III Bull barrel for my Wife

and

A Browning Buckmark Contour 5.5 URX for me

After that we will see :)

I love the looks of that glock conversion kit. I love the feel of glocks and wanted to get a Glock 17 in 9mm and I wanted a .22 so I think I will get that conversion and have both:)
