I came across a brick of interesting older ammo a couple of months back. It is CIL Imperial Target 22 Long Rifle Standard Velocity. Went to the range today and forgot to bring it along. FS
Your post reminded me of a few boxes I have kicking around. My mother brought them home from an estate auctiion for me around 25 yrs ago. Me and my brother shot off a couple hundred before deciding they might be worth something. They have "property of the government of Canada" on the back as well, but mine are the yellow boxes. Don't know what I'll do with them either.
Yes, it reminded me of some of the old ones I had lying around, too. Dan, is this the white box you were referring to?
There is cerainly collecter value in old CIL ammunition, and even the boxes, but there are a lot of variations. Obviously, the older types are worth more. I have a mint brick of CIL long rifle, Super-Clean, but about the last ones made, and I saw them at a gun show for $5. for a box of 50. Some types are worth quite a bit more.
In the picture the red Whiz-Bang are older than the black trimmed boxes.
Since we are talking about old ammo, I would like to see a thread on old cartridges, so I will post a picture, or three, and start a new thread!
