.22 dewey cleaning rod -> .30?

I have a .22 cal dewey cleaning rod. Anyone know if it's okay to use on a .30 cal rifle? I do not see why there would be a problem.

Yep. You may not be able to use a cleaning patch or brush that are big enough though. Depends on the threads on the jags. A .30 cal brush uses a bigger threaded shank. Fortunately, Dewey makes an adaptor.

The only possible problem is if you are using a really tight fitting jag/patch in a larger caliber the rod might try and buckle, but assuming you're careful it should be just fine.

I used the .22 cal rod on my .30. The .30 brushes had the same threads so that was not a problem. It did buckle some what though. Is that something to worry about? Thanks for your input

As long as you're careful about it it should be OK... too much and you could snap the rod. As always, its a good idea to use a bore guide.

I use nothing but 22 Dewey rods, on everything up to 45 cal......as stated, be a little careful, and always use a bore guide.
