So according to the instructor who recently taught me the material of the CFSC and CRFSC and did my examination, there is no legal magazine size limit for semi-automatics if they are rimfire. The other day I saw some 50 round magazines for .22 rounds on one of this forum's affiliate's website, I forget which one, but is there anything bigger than that? What about drums? I know there are 100 round drums for both the M-16 and the AK-47, is there anything like that for a semi-automatic .22 rifle?

Lakeside Machine, in the states makes a couple belt fed 22's. Getting the parts and the belts up to Canada is problematic.
Other than that, 50 rounds is it. Dunno about the drum that is available now, but the old Mitchell 50 rd mags were a PITA to load, fussy about feeding all the way through a full load, and generally fragile.
I figure a drum along the lines of the PPSH or Thompson drum, with a multiple row spiral to it would hold a fair few .22 rounds. Made on CNC milling equipment, it could be made without a huge investment in forming dies, and could be maintainable. Cost, though. Lots. I figure it'd still sell.

I saw a drum at the last local G-show (back in Jan.). He only had one with him (it was his own) and said he had a bunch on the way, if you want one take a business card and call back after easter....... He said the 50's are $80 and the 100's are $120.... I dunno but the one he showed me was for a 10/22 and looked about 9" to 10" in diamiter and he said it was a 100 rnder....... I call him once a week to see if he's got them yet the 50's or 100's....... Still no joy.....

Pro-Mag has their 3rd generation drum mag available now.
It has stainless steel feed lips, a revised feeding angle and a thumb-cam on the back for easier loading as compared to the earlier ones.
I have not tried one yet but it is clear they are making a strong effort to fix the drums.

bought 1 off ee like the 1 on right . he said brand new . could not get more than 5 rds in before it jammed . why any 1 would market such junk is beyond me . if any 1 gets 1 on left that actually works would like to know . you would think they would test and make sure no issues before they get a bad rep . cheers FRANK
