.22 for Youth

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/viewtopic.php?t=94588

Both my boys have this. Give it a go, mag fed, bolt action, adjustable trigger, scope mountable, etc.....

The pair of Toz 78's arrived but I haven't had the chance to test them out with the boys. They did shoot them allot with there grandfather over Thanksgiving weekend. No complaints and very accurate. Both put approx 200 rounds threw them each.

Heard nothing but good things about them.

I bought my 11 year old a CZ 452 Style.

It's quite a bit more expensive than most other .22's. The nickel finish and synthelic stock appeal to him and the added weather resistance is a bonus. Its very well built and extremely accurate.

Even though its a full-sized gun it fits my boy well (he's of average size compared to his peers). I put a weaver K6 on it, because it wasn't on anything else. With that gun, he's guaranteed instant death (head shots consistently) for small critters around here.

The added expense ensures that he has a quality rifle that he will be able to use for a long time and perhaps pass on to his son some day.

His youger brother is 9 and uses a 10/22 with an aftermarket kid's stock. I wouldn't recommend a semi-auto for kids, but mine has learned not to "play".

I like the idea of the cooey for a number of reasons.

They are built well and very simple. Plus you would be getting a bit Canadian history for your kid.

Most shoot well as well.

I picked up a Cooey Ranger off the exchange forum for $30. Ran the stock through the band saw to remove a little over an inch from the buttstock. Trimmed the metal buttplate to fit on the belt sander and instant youth rifle. Took a little under 1/2hr.

22 for an 11 year old

If you decide to got the CZ 452 route I've got a spare 452 Scout stock with a 12" LOP and he could grow into the regular stock.

Here's the Savage Mark II I started our 11 year old on. Bought new for $ 140.00 I think, $ 50.00 Bushnell scope, $ 80.00 bi pod and an extra $ 10 mag.
Synthetic stock makes it pretty light.

IMO an all around simple good quality gun that won't break the bank.

Shoots nice, he can knock the head of of pretty much anything with it, triggers a little stiff though hopefully it loosens up after a few rounds.

Our son is average size for his age and I don't think he needs a youth sized gun, our next is 9 years old and he'll be shooting this one the next time we go out. My 2 cents.
