They say they may need fitting to cover their butts but the mags are metal and rarely have an issue. My buddy got a 8 rd and 20 rd from them and both work just fine. They aren't cheap though, but a original mag is completely ridiculous in price.
It's worth it regardless of price... The Gevarm is one of the sweetest .22s ever made. I know have my Dads..... Need a new mag as the original seems to be causing me some grief... Will need to check with Western Gun... Thanks for the info.
For the price of a new 10/22 you can get a mag..... Likely that's why it was gifted in the first place.
Personally I really like mine, it's a great little shooter. Mine was brand new in the late 60's and has probably seen 50k + down the bore. Originally it had 4 mags 2-20's and 2-9's. All that remain is one 9. The rest crapped out along the way.....
It fires from an open bolt. The magazine is important as it not only loads rounds into the firearm but it is also the ejector! There is actually no extractor, it is a very simple design.
Aftermarket mags are available but most of the ones I have tried needed tweaking to make work and some of them never did work very well.....
They are a great little rifle and are a ton of fun.
