Thread title says it all, guys:

What do you think is best, and WHY???

I'm a total FNG on the CGN forums, but have slight experience with semi-auto handguns. I have an RPAL and want to get into handgun shooting. I'd like to get a handgun that I can convert from .22 to either .40 or .45. In your opinion, what's the best out there (reasonably priced, say under $1000 CDN, of course), to start with a .22.

I have seen the conversion kits for a SIG 226, but am not sure if that's the way to go. I'm not looking to for competition shooting at this point, but that is something I may want to get into.

CZ 75/85/SP-01 with Kadet kit. This gives you both an excellent 9mm pistol, and an excellent .22LR conversion. The fixed barrel and sights of the Kadet kit (only the slide moves) gives it excellent accuracy.

Here's a typical target with my CZ-75 SP-01, 9mm and .22LR Kadet conversion kit. 25m. 25 rounds (9mm and .22). Bullseye is 5.5" in diameter.
