.22 hollow points?

In terms of lethality, lead solids work allright but far from stellar. Copper-washed solids poke nice holes in things but don't anchor them. In terms of favorite HPs, the Winchester Power Points work very well in terms of accuracy and lethality, but are getting to damn expensive. Yellow Jackets hit hard but aren't really accurate in most rifles. Federal bulk packs feed really well in all my rifle but do not seem to open up well. Incidentally, I opened up a dozen with a pocket knife and ran them through my Hiawatha last summer. I actually got sprayed by parts went I whacked one about ten feet away.

I don't have a problem with the mags, however I get a lot of spent casings that jam up the action before it closes. between 1 and 3 failures in a 10 round mag.

It's a virtually new 10/22, and it's always fed like s**t. Sorry for the hijak.

Buy a Volquartzen extractor from Rimfiresports. At the same time shop for many other goodies for the 10/22

I"m sure this has been done to death before, but here goes.
I "ve been shooting winchester wildcat solid bullets out of my 10/22 because it likes them(feeds/accurate).
I"m hoping to shoot some gophers shortly, and am starting to try some different hollow points.
How much does it matter? I know no-one can guarantee "bang flops" with a
.22 lr(I just bought a 17 hmr, before anyone points out the obvious), but how do solids compare to hollow points, and are they going to open up on a gopher anyway?
Any constructive advice, based on experience welcomed.

Try remington "Cyclone" then. I know, I know. Remington ammo... But they make nice pointy hollow point bullets that will probably feed as good as round nose anything.

As to HP vs RN I would say it really doesn't matter in terms of lethality. RN probly won't be expanding but holes are still very big. Imagine deer size game being hit by 37mm caliber cannon? Would that mater if that cannon fires solids or hollow points?
