Gday guys, me again.

now that Hornet drama was just a loose sight, I purchased some reloading Dies, some of the Lee Collet dies........

now i looked up charge weights for 45gr which is standard 22H choice, and also 55gr which i could use the same projectile in .22H and .222Rem in form of those Z max 55gr i got a while ago........

Whats the go here, as BOTH load charges are 10g Min and 11.5(C) MaX...........

is there too much left on the table to use 55gr over 45gr? looks around 300-400 fps avg.?

i guess wouldnt matter for intended purposes.... cheaper form (reloading) to having my Son shoot the gun an step between .22LR and .222Rem , so maybe it doesnt matter and to use what i have!?

FYI- using PPU brass.
ADI - AR2207 (i use in 375wcf & 222)

This will depend on your rifles twist, older traditional Hornets had 1-16 so a 55gr would be NFG.The NEF single shots went to a 1-9" before production ceased. Is AR2207 /H4198 or close according to the charts?

I’m looking forward to using the Hornady 55gr soft points I got for a super low price. Hoping my 1-7.5” twist and 1-8” twist don’t over spin them to where they blow up mid air

its the 1950 zkw465 so shes older, il have to look up the twists!

yeh it is hodgkon H4198 or so

Magazines are as hard to find as rocking horse poop for that one, should be 1-16 and perhaps .223 groove.I had a tight Sako that patterned all .224 size bullets and a Savage pre- model340 that did the same.Your mileage may vary?

Well Gents, i think i answered my own question without the hornet being involved here,
im shootin the 55gr 'zmax' bullet out of the 222 with AR2207 and actually find it very bang- - wack on a target at 200ms , an noticing enough drop at 200m to more than likely miss a Fox with a dead hold on, I posted a thread the other day about the moa adjustments at 200m, it was because i want to now Zero my 222rem for around 180-200m for most Spotlighting Foxes which are under 200m an normally past 100m, which made me think about the Hornet, i guess while i have enough prjectiles to go round i Could use the 55s, but i feel like im going to go a lighter route initially around 40-45gr for all intent and purpose.

i'll make do with the 55gr .222 loads for now an once finished them i will also look into lighter 45-50gr also, mos likely keep projectiles seperate from 22/222 .

im loading 17.5gr2207 in the 222, might be a low load velocity wise, i kind of notice it, normally th 222 is Flat to 200 all day.

thanks Gentlemen.

^This.^ Lil' gun really breathes life into the hornet.

I tried regular 40gr vmax bullets in my 340B but couldn't seat them short enough to fit in my mag. I'm stuck with 35gr vmax or 45gr hornet.

**Edit** Just found some 30gr Hornet Varmint grenades. Those should be fun!!
There is nothing " grenade " like in any Barnes varmint bullets I have tried, and I have tried them all.......LOL
Greatest marketing scam ever, IMHO

I used to load 55gr Hornady /old style with the cannelure in a triple deuce with 24gr of Win 748 for WT deer for my dad in Ontario.A dozen deer later and 3 black bear all one shot kills he is now too old to hunt.

I've taken to shooting gophers with my 22-250 using 36gr VG lately. They pretty much cut 'em in half.

Mind you, so do 55gr v-max, but that's 19gr more bullet.

dudes i smoked another red fox last night in the headlights on the home property, he was just a tad over 100m, aimed right at his eyes as it was layin down toward me, smoked it.
loving the .222 as per usual, but the 55gr zmax, not bad at all just finding that 150m is perfect for the .222

Thanks for the Video, thats a cool one! cheers
