If you don't handload, sell it and get a 223. Factory ammo is hard to find, and expensive. And if you have to ship it and pay the hazmat on top of that... your wal-mart white box special 223 will be 1/2 the price.

Epp's lists it. Federal, Remington and Winchester for a few, load it. Depending on where you are, Carppy Tire may carry it, but your local gun shop can order anything you want. How long it takes depends on if their supplier has it in stock.
Like prosper says, cheap it ain't. Here in Ontario(Shooter's Choice in Waterloo), Remington 45 gr PTD SP runs $47.95 per 20($20.95 for 55 grain .223). The brass is $13.95 per 50.

Factory hornet is"nt even an option. It"s expensive garbage too. If you handload with lil gun you will easily beat factory at a fraction of the price.
The hornet just is"nt popular enough to keep the price down, and factory loads are too slow for decent performance. I"m waiting for my K hornet to come, but a couple of friends have regular hornets and they shoot great with handloads.
The only good factory round I"ve seen is hornady"s 35 gr vmax.

Ruger makes a 77/22 hornet, but many are not very accurate because of rear bolt lockup and headspace problems.
Browning, Savage, Remington 799 (mini mauser), Anschutz, and my favorite, Cooper. There are also many others.
Agreed. I don't know why so many people seem to find reloading intimidating. It's NOT time consuming (no more so than finding time to drive down to the store and buy ammo), it's NOT necessarily expensive (you don't need the ferrari of reloading packages to produce precision reloads), and it's NOT complicated

For $150 he could be set up with a Lee Anniversary kit and dies, and only need to buy components to fill his empty brass.
The Lee Kit is perfectly serviceable, albeit it isn't the Cadillac of loading equipment. He could start with that and upgrade from there into better equipment, but in the meantime he could load his Hornet ammo for next to nothing compared to factory ammo. The kit would soon pay for itself, and then he could start upgrading from there.
