22 hornet loaded with 22cal pellets?

I read some where that if loaded a 22 hornet with a pistol primer, no powder , and stuck a 22 cal pellet in the case that you can shoot it indoors , kind like a pellet gun, myself I have not tryed it yet, has some one done this?

You'll be exposing you and your family to very toxic lead compounds from the primers, indoor ranges are ventilated strongly to prevent this, houses and barns aren't. As for the idea, haven't tried it but will likely give it a whirl for bird pest loads.

Tried it once. The pistol primer blew the centre out of the pellet and left the rest of the pellet in the case.
Pellet was not tight in the case, barely holding.
Different pellets may produce different results.

Could also use 22 cal round balls, but might need a magnum primer.

I tried it years ago. The trick is to put the pellet in the case mouth backwards, with the hollow base to the front. This prevent blowing a hole in the pellet and sticking the pellet in the case or barrel. Accuracy was so-so, and I decided I had better uses for the primers. An air rifle works much better!
