I have 100 new brass coming. I have never loaded for this caliber before so was looking on the 'net about it and read that the Hornet has a bad habit of case seperation. Thinking that one over in this old brain and I wondered if annealing all of the new brass would be a good idea to make it less brittle? Thanks....Dave

The key to reloading the hornet is not to bump the shallow shoulder back too far when resizing.

Setting the dies up is key, Size just enough to make loading a sized case into the rifles action without binding. Neck sizing is best but a FL die setup properly will give you lots of reloads without problems.

Make sure you chamfer the case mouth to ease seating bullets as the Hornet has very thin neck wall thickness.
If you don't you may crumple the neck when seating.

Enjoy your Hornet, it's a great cartridge!

New brass should have the neck annealed ready to go. The hornet is a great cartridge, I've loaded them for years full length sized and no problems. As was stated already though, chamfer the case mouth well so the neck doesn't fold when bullet seating.

Thanks for the advise. I have a set of Lee dies with a full length and a collet die for neck sizing only. I have always wanted one and now am looking forward to getting to the range and to hunting coyotes and chucks. Dave
