Mine was newer, it was a tack driver. When I got it, it was very tight and sticky. I coated the bolt with a tracing agent (red lead) and easily dected the high spots. I used small die-stones to polish it. Smoothed right out. Trigger was decent as well.
The only reason I sold mine was because I upgraded to a few other rifles; CZ, Brno, Anschutz. As a bolt action plinker, it was hard to beat. Likely a better rifle than the Savage Mk II IMO. The older ones, like the one in the picture, are actually a bit better finished I have found.
