I am thinking about expanding the collection and I was wondering if I could get some thoughts, recomondations and tips about what to look at and what is available out there for the Canadian market. Anybody?

Is it a restricted AR-15 that shoots 22 long rifle that you want, or a 22LR that emulates an AR-15 in appearance and ergonomics?

Check out this thread, browse through the pictures of different guy's builds... see what you like... not to mention what you're willing to spend. For many of us, the only savings in shooting .22 is in the ammo itself, cuz the upgrades on our rifles add up like a mofo ;)

S&W makes one but the government has it restricted for your safety.

Ruger makes an SR-22 with is a 10-22 in Ar style trim. Also Remington makes one and you have the choice between those 2 manufacturers.

cheers

Matt

Mossberg makes one also.

I have a restricted licence. I just want an AR platform .22lr. Probably not gonna go all nuts with the upgrades, I just wanna shoot cheap ammo preferably with a mag that holds more than 10 rounds.
For the record, the search function on this forum is a pos that has yet to yeild me any results for anything.

The search function can be a little lacking for sure. If all you do is shoot at a range I guess your best choice is the S&W but they are restricted to 10 rounds as the mags also fit the pistol version. If you need more than 10 rounds any of the others, Ruger, Remington or Mossberg are fine but if you want it to operate just like an AR then it is the S&W period.

50 rd. drum from Questar, for S&W

If you want it to operate and LOOK exactly like an AR get a ARMI-JAEGER AP 74. Can be picky on ammo but once you find what they like they are hard to beat in my opinion.
I have an AP74 and it is very picky about what it likes to feed. Mine works best with the CCI Stinger and yes its restricted

I owned one of these for a few years, but as various parts broke, it was getting harder and harder to find the parts. It was a great shooter though!

im looking for a tactical 22 as well, but it MUST be something that can be field-striped...ie no tools, no damn screw drivers, something that comes apart ez like a "military weapon"...like a VZ58 or AR15.

Its a damn shame our politicians cant fathom that what makes a mitary gun "good" also makes a hunting or sporting firearm good.

I cant stand regular civilian firearms that need to be cleaned...good luck! other than cleaning the boor and jaming some Q tips in youd need to be a gun smith or spend a damn good hour or two with a box of mini tools. ANNOYING.

I will not buy a mossberg tactical. SR 22 or any other .22 cal thats a civilian gun jammed into a stock that makes it look "cool" but requires screw drivers and crap to disassemble and clean.

Please, for the love of god, someone import a VZ58 in .22cal........
or recommend something that is non-restricted in .22cal thats tactical and can be field scripted in seconds without tools.
