So I finally got around to doing some testing ( you know retired guys are busy ) anyway Wednesday morning it was beautiful +16 and for a change no wind here, grabbed a couple 22's those being a CZ 457 with 24" sporter weight barrel and a Christensen Arms Ranger with an 18" carbon fiber barrel, dug through my stash of 22 ammo and headed to the range.
Below you will find the test results, data was gathered on a Garmin Xero C1 Pro, all data is the average of 3 x 5 shot groups at 50 yards, I had read in the past that 22 LR achieves max velocity in 18" barrel, some say 16" anyway the chart below just confirms that, in fact in some case velocity was a tad higher out of the 18" CA than out of the 24" CZ. of course the CA Ranger is said to have a match grade chamber which may or may not make a difference. One other thing that I have know for some time now from shooting my long range centerfire's is that the lowest ES and SD is not always the most accurate load, again this is shown below.
