Has anybody used these before and are they any good, or did I just waste 12 bucks at cambodian tire for nothing? I was going to take them to the range tomorrow and test them out.

.22 shot

it is extremely fine and VERY range shot...about size 11.....I have used it in a .22 revolver for grouse at very short range and for rats.....basically it is almost a waste of money...

They are very useful for pest control inside buildings, ( think haylofts) rats, english sparrows, even pigeons at "flashlight after dark" ranges. Useless as any possible load could be for shooting "at the range" !
.22 Birdshot is MUCH more effective ( better patterns) out of a smoothbore gun. I have a .22 smoothbore, it can cleanly kill sparrows / starlings at about 50 feet. A normal rifled bore spreads the shot in a spiral, 15-20' is about as far as it is useful out of a rifle. It is not humane to use on grouse, rabbits or feral cats. It will not normally operate a semi. Clean the rifling well with solvent and a wire brush after shooting birdshot out of a .22 rifle.

Some folk call them rat shot. They will punch holes in cardboard out to about 8 yards. They are not an effective hunting round except for rats (at close range) and mice.

It looks like i should just take these thing back instead and not bother shooting. I have a 10/22 and if they won't cycle the action then there is no point in shooting them.

No I am not from Manitoba, i'vd lived in BC my whole life

You can't return ammo......might as well shoot 'em now....

Good advice for any indoor shooting, but I've fired it outdoors at 10 feet without much rick o'shea concern (or target penetration on a plastic bottle) - colour me foolish?

I used to do the same thing, until I caught a pellet in the eyebrow. Lesson learned.
